Reflect Pricing

by Aaron Boeving on May 02, 2008   17 comments

The private beta is just around the corner and we've had several questions about what the Reflect pricing will be like. We've decided to go ahead and post the pricing chart on this pricing and signup page. The signup will be disabled while we're in private beta.

Please feel free to leave your feedback on the pricing.

I think the pricing is fine, the low end is a really good deal for a hosted solution.

The real value for me here are the amount of pages. It's kinda vague what counts as a page. Would using a blog modal count as one page or would it count as several since each post would create its own unique page?

@ Brad C

Good question. Pages are simply pages, not modules. And modules will not count against the number of pages. I think this will become more clear once we get the information on this website more streamlined and up-to-date with some of our latest interface changes. We'll work to make that more clear. Thanks for the question.

I do not see a problem with the pricing. For a hosted cms this seems fair.

Can not wait for the beta.

@Brad C
I have tried to answer this question in a little more detail in: What's the difference between a page and a blog module?. I hope this helps to clarify.

Pricing looks good to me. As has been pointed out by others, its more than fair given that this is a hosted solution.

Will you offer any private label (reseller) version eventually? I'm sure plenty of designers would use this for client sites if they could insert their own logo etc in the admin panel..

Mateo,

It's possible and something we've definitely considered. That being said, the Reflect interface is already pretty brand independent. We think that there are pros and cons of doing a "white label" version. Pros obviously being that it gives a designer/company the ability to sell it as their own product. Cons would be that you can loose some of the credibility that comes with a product being used by a large group of designers/companies. We think there is a good mix between the two and it's what we are striving to provide.

Thanks for the question.

Aaron, I'm sure all of this will get answered when Reflect is released. But could you comment a little more about the setup would work for someone who was a designer/developer for a number of projects that use Reflect? I am a developer who does a lot of website for people on the side. I would love to setup a "developer" account or something so that all of the projects that I'm involved with for reflect are linked together. Is something like that going to be possible? I don't care about the branding issue, I'm happy for the interface to have Reflect all over it :) Keep up the hard work on this great project. I'm looking forward to trying it out.

Thanks for the quick reply. The big issue for me is that I have lots of clients that I earn residual income from on their site cms. If I were to use your product instead (which I'd like to do), then if there is no private label version I won't be able to upcharge the service, since they will click on your logo or google search your name and see the pricing for themselves. I'd love to transistion my current sites and use this for all my new sites, but it's not even an option if I can't make a dime on using your service for my clients..

@Steve - You're right, this will become more clear when you get to use Reflect and we get this website updated with more accurate screenshots, etc... But, to answer you question, you will be able to have all your websites linked together under your own Reflect account. Additionally you can organize the different websites by company. We think it makes great sense for web designers with multiple websites.

@Mateo - We see your point and are definitely considering that. And, just to let you know, the updated interface (not shown in the screenshots on this site yet) does not have a Reflect logo on it or even mention Reflect.

Thanks for the comments!

Great to hear. If the admin panel doesn't show your logo, and the URL for that panel is ambiguous or brandable, that solves my problems right there..

Now we just need a reseller discount, even based on number of sites or something ;) heh heh

Any idea when you'll be inviting the rest of us on the waiting list, btw?

May 15, 2008 Aaron Boeving

@Mateo

Our hope is to get the majority of the list with accounts this month, but this will probably spill over into June for some. We're taking precautions to make sure that our server infrastructure and system can handle everything appropriately before we let the flood gates in :) However, I can definitely say we're extremely eager to get everyone on the list accounts as soon as possible.

I'm looking forward to it. I've been searching for a cms that my clients can actually understand and use, and I think that Reflect will be it!

May 22, 2008 Chris

I second all of Mateo comments.

As a designer, this is a valuable tool to use, but it's real value for me is if i can brand it and markup the pricing.

Can't wait to test it out!!!

May 22, 2008 Chris

Also, are you able to set permissions for a client, so that they can't stuff anything up!!!

I also noticed that you have domain mapping with the terms being if it's a hosted plan. Does this mean that there is going to be a option to host on your own servers??

May 23, 2008 Mateo

It appears (check out that People screens in the features) that you can give different access levels to your clients...

May 26, 2008 Aaron Boeving

@Chris and @Mateo,
Yes, you can give your clients and all users different permission and access levels. The permissions are actually a bit different than what is on the current Features page and are a bit more robust.

@Chris
Reflect is only available as a hosted application and there is no plans for any kind of installable version in the future. The ability to point your own domain name to Reflect is only available on the paid plans. I apologize for any confusion.
